Today, the market town of Sudbury is regarded as Great Britain’s most important centre for silk manufacture, producing nearly 95% of the nation’s woven silk textile from its three working mills. The exhibition will explore the local and national history of silk in England, from Spitalfields in London to Sudbury in Suffolk.

The Munnings Art Museum is the former home of Sir Alfred Munnings (1878–1959). Munnings lived and worked in this elegant Tudor and Georgian building for over forty years. The museum now owns the largest collection of art works by this former President of the Royal Academy.
